Thomas Sylvester

Thomas G. Sylvester, 54, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017.  Tom was born on Dec. 15, 1962, to Dr. Richard and Helen Sylvester. He received his Aerospace Engineering degree from the University of Cincinnati. Tom had a great interest in model airplanes as a child and grew up to work at Lockheed Martin as an Aerospace Engineer for over 30 years, nationally recognized as an expert in aircraft inlet aerodynamics and design. Tom spent his career developing innovative, state-of-the-art aircraft inlets for the F-16, numerous advanced classified aircraft and most recently, the F-35 Diverterless Supersonic Inlet (DSI). He held two U.S. patents on advanced technology incorporated into the F-35 engine inlet system and authored numerous technical publications showcasing his expertise. Outside of work, Tom was very active in several community efforts, including Habitat for Humanity, and was an active member of the Tanglewood Neighborhood Association and its committees as well as the Sertoma Club of Fort Worth where he served as president. Tom regularly attended Holy Family Catholic Church. Tom was always very helpful and very giving of his time and his talents to others who requested and needed it. Tom was highly respected and admired by his peers and his family and will be deeply missed by all his family, friends and Lockheed Martin family. Survivors: Daughter, Taylor Sylvester; mother, Helen Sylvester; brothers, Rick and John Sylvester; and sisters, Mary Sylvester and Ann Chelf.
